After entering the building, comply with the rules in force in Roman Baths, first of all to regulations regarding safety, order and proper behaviour in accordance with the sauna standards and sauna culture.
You can ask our staff about the standards of sauna use and they will also show you all our saunas, baths and attractions available in the Roman Baths.
Please remember that there is a no-textile zone in the Roman Baths, which means that swimwear should not be worn. In the corridors, restaurant and rest area, you must wear a towel or a bathrobe.
You may enter all dry saunas in a towel, while steam saunas and swimming pools should be entered naked and the towel should be hung on a peg.
 

GENERAL GUIDELINES

For hygienic and health reasons, please use two towels with a minimum size of 70x140 cm. If you do not have the above-mentioned towels, you can borrow them at our reception desk for a fee of PLN 15. When lending towels, we charge a deposit on the transponder, which will not be returned if the towel is damaged or not returned.

You can use your own bathrobes and bathing flip-flops.
It is forbidden to use mobile phones, camcorders, cameras and computers on the premises of Roman Baths.
In order to secure valuables on the premises, we offer you unpaid lockers.
For reasons of hygiene and health, it is forbidden to bring from outside and consume meals and drinks on the premises. Our restaurant in the sauna zone - Vital Spa Pompeja has a rich offer of meals and beverages prepared for you.

All services available in the Roman Baths can be used without cash, payment will be made upon leaving the facility.
A total smoking ban is in force on the premises.


SAUNA CULTURE AND HIGIENE

There is a nudity zone in the whole area of saunas and Roman Baths, which means that the persons using the Roman Baths cannot be dressed in bathing suits or other textiles.
When sitting or lying in dry saunas and on all beds and seats, it is necessary to put a towel under the whole body in order to avoid direct contact of the body with the backs, seats and beds.
In the steam baths, towels should be left outside. Before contact with the seat, as well as after leaving it, rinse it with water.
In the thermal cave and swimming pools, towels and bathrobes should be left outside.
In the outdoor pool and outdoor terraces, you can wear bathing suits or not.
In passageways, in the restaurant, on terraces wear a towel or a bathrobe.For safety and hygiene reasons, wear flip-flops in the sauna area. You can borrow disinfected flip-flops from our staff. 

GUIDELINES ON THE USE OF ROMAN BATHS

We kindly ask you to leave the chairs, deck chairs, tables, etc. where they are to allow unobstructed passageway.
Please leave your bags only on special shelves designated for this purpose or in the changing room.
Please do not put glasses or other dishes on the floor, especially in the pool area and the sauna area, as it carries a high risk of injury.
Please pay special attention to warning signs, e.g. ‘slippery surface’.
Due to the presence of other users, please avoid talking loudly, reading the press and literature out loud in the sauna and swimming pool area.
Please hang towels and bathrobes on the pegs designated for this purpose, do not hang towels and bathrobes on statues, cornices, fountains, wall lamps etc.
After leaving the beds and seats, please take all your personal belongings with you, other Roman Bath users will appreciate this.
After leaving the seating and lying places, it is forbidden to reserve seats and beds. Your belongings left behind will be removed by the staff.


GUIDELINES ON USING THE SAUNA

1. BEFORE THE BATH
  • plan a sauna bath in your weekly schedule; once or twice per week is recommended;

  • a sauna bath should be the last activity of your daily schedule;

  • before a planned bath, do not eat a big meal, do not drink alcohol, do not take strenuous exercises or effort; do not enter a sauna before planned big effort;

  • schedule at least 2 - 4 hours of your time for the bath;

  • enter the sauna after using the toilet, undressing, thoroughly washing the body in the shower with soapy water and drying the body with a towel;

  • before entering the sauna, leave your watch, mobile phone, jewellery in the changing room;

  • persons suffering from acute inflammation, circulatory problems, a disease in progress, high temperature, cancer, spasmodic diseases, schizophrenia, epilepsy, tuberculosis, or venereal diseases should not use the sauna;

  • indications for using the sauna are: prevention of "cold diseases", respiratory catarrh, sinusitis, motor system diseases, rheumatic diseases, women's diseases, skin diseases such as allergies, acne, skin pruritus, diseases of the digestive system, postoperative conditions, cardiac neurosis, high and low blood pressure with the exclusion of grade 3 hypertension (over 200/100);

  • because sauna baths provide the so-called “cold protection” for a period of 7 days, in order to maintain the body's resistance to diseases resulting from colds, it is recommended to use sauna baths at least once a week;

  • remember that the sauna is a kind of "bathing philosophy" and it is an element complementary to pharmacological treatment and a natural preventive measure for many diseases that builds up your immunity.

2. DURING THE BATH
  • when entering the sauna, you must put a towel under the entire lower part of your body on the bottom shelf and sit on it, experienced sauna users can climb directly the upper shelf

  • try to keep your legs at the height of your torso or lie down to expose the whole body to the same temperature

  • during the bath, behave quietly and in a cultured manner, avoid loud conversations, swear words, discussions, remember that the sauna is a place of tranquillity and meditation

  • usually, a bath is made up of two or three 8-15 minute sessions in the sauna room, after which you should calmly leave the sauna room, remembering that after getting up from the lying position you should wait 1-2 minutes before leaving the sauna room, in a sitting position, because the sudden flow of blood to the brain may cause staggering

  • after leaving the sauna, take a shower to cool down

  • when cooling the body, remember to start from the peripheral parts, cool down towards the heart, never pour cold water directly on the heated head

  • relax in a pleasant atmosphere, listening to gentle relaxation music, in a comfortable armchair, in nice company, making casual conversation, before entering the second session; you should rest for 15-30 minutes or until you feel cool

  • do not drink, eat or read in the sauna room
    in the breaks between the sessions, also try to drink large amounts of water or tomato juice, the remaining part of the fluids should be replenished after the last session

  • repeat these activities 2-3 times after the first phase of the bath

  • after the last phase, replenish the fluids, eat a light meal, and, if possible, take a hot foot bath

3. AFTER THE BATH
  • do not wash the body with soap after the last sauna session

  • do not take any big effort immediately after the bath

  • any undesirable symptoms such as breathlessness, headaches, feeling unwell should be reported to the doctor

  • before getting dressed, if the conditions allow it, disinfect your feet by spraying them with a suitable fungicide

  • after a sauna bath you can have your favourite body massage or use the sun bed

  • in winter, make sure you dress appropriately to go out into winter weather conditions safely

  • always leave the sauna in the condition in which you would like to find it
